Milan Vitalis could be signing for Celtic this summer, according to reports in Hungary.

Amid uncertainty over Martin O’Neill’s permanent future, one thing remains clear: a huge rebuild beckons for the Scottish champions this summer.

This is especially the case in midfield, where several key players appear set to leave. Recruitment work has been led by Shaun Maloney in preparation for the summer transfer window.

And Vitalis, a Hungarian international, is seemingly one of the Hoops’ potential reinforcements.

Benjamin Tahirovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina shoots past Bryan Cristante of Italy during the FIFA World Cup 2026 European Qualifiers KO play-offs match between Bosnia & Herzegovina and Italy at Stadion Bilino Polje on March 31, 2026 in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

FC Gyor captain Milan Vitalis could sign for Celtic

According to Csakfoci, Vitalis’ future “may be outlined” at Celtic, who are possibly going to sign the midfielder.

The 24-year-old is the captain of ETO FC Gyor, and has just lifted an unlikely Hungarian title after securing the trophy on the final day.

He achieved this at the expense of — you guessed it — Robbie Keane, who has now departed after Ferencvaros missed out on the title for the first time in eight years.

Keane is one of the reported frontrunners for the Celtic job, and will be very familiar with Vitalis. Read into it too much if you wish…

He made his debut for the Hungarian national team at the beginning of this season, remaining in the squad since. He currently has five caps.

A box-to-box midfielder who loves to get forward, Vitalis scored nine goals from the middle of the park this season.

He broke through at the Hungarian side before moving to Dunajska Streda in Slovakia, returning to Hungary ahead of this season.

Celtic’s midfield is set for a major overhaul this summer, with Reo Hatate, Arne Engels and Paulo Bernardo all expected to leave.

Exits for Callum McGregor and Benjamin Nygren are yet to be ruled out either, whilst Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s short-term contract is up.

Celtic in the hunt for midfielders

Vitalis joins a decent list of midfielders linked with Celtic ahead of next season, with the rumour mill already in full flow.

Celtic have reignited their interest in Jakob Breum, the Danish midfielder for whom they infamously sent several lowball offers last summer.

Alfie Devine, Elijah Just and Elliot Watt are all also on the radar.

Celtic had scouted both Silas Andersen and Issa Doumbia in recent months, but the pair are now on the verge of joining Sporting in Portugal.
