Jamie Vardy to Celtic?

That’s the big transfer talk at the moment involving the Scottish Premiership champions. It was initially reported that Vardy is ‘desperate’ to sign for the Hoops.

Sky Sports then clarified that there’s been no contact as of yet between Celtic and Vardy, but of course there’s still time for that to happen.

Celtic need another quality striker and as time ticks towards the deadline day, the Hoops may be tempted into striking a deal.

However, it appears they will face competition from two Premier League clubs who will be able to offer more in wages to Vardy than Celtic.

Everton and Brentford ‘offers or enquiries’ for Vardy

The Daily Mail have issued a small report on Vardy’s situation and made it clear that the veteran forward is not in a hurry to decide his next club.

The Premier League legend is keeping fit in Portugal at the moment, and the publication claim Everton and Brentford have either made an offer or enquired about Vardy.

The report stated: “Jamie Vardy is in no immediate rush to make a decision on his next club.

“The 38-year-old is maintaining his fitness by training in Portugal following his departure from Leicester and has fielded a number of offers or enquiries from the likes of Napoli, Rangers, Celtic, Everton and Brentford.

“As a free agent, he can still join clubs outside of the window.”

Champions League football at Celtic could persuade Vardy

Everton and Brentford, as mentioned, will be able to offer the most money out of the clubs who are said to be interested in Vardy.

Rangers have no chance, but Serie A champions Napoli could pose a threat to the English pair given they will definitely play in the league phase of the Champions League.

Celtic are on the brink of that, but they will need to overcome Kairat Almaty across two play-off legs before confirming their place for a second consecutive year.

Roger Hannah says Vardy’s number one preference is Celtic, and if Champions League football comes with that, it should be an easy call for the 38-year-old.

Question is, do Celtic really want to sign him? The closer we get to deadline day, perhaps the more likely it becomes.
