Celtic head into the January transfer window in a very strong position.
Some will argue that Brendan Rodgers can relax and perhaps not use the window to further enhance his squad because it’s not needed.
Celtic currently hold a 12-point lead over Rangers, and they could extend that lead further ahead of the Glasgow derby on Thursday.
But to continue dominance, you have to strengthen when you are on top and that’s exactly what will happen at Parkhead.
Not forgetting that, the Bhoys are heading towards the knockout stages of the Champions League, so it allows the team to spend even more, if they wish.
Either way, Celtic’s possible actions have started to worry a certain Rangers pundit on the BBC.
Steven Thompson ‘frightened’ by what Celtic will do in the January transfer window
Heading into last Christmas, there were chants of ‘sack the board’ from the Celtic fans as the team was losing at home to Hearts.
It’s fair to say that all of that has turned on its head now and it has even got Rangers-biased pundits quaking in their boots.
Steven Thompson told Sportscene that it’s ‘frightening’ that Rodgers and Celtic are planning to add more ‘firepower’ to their squad.
“The bench is frightening, two subs managed to come on and get on the scoresheet as well, Kuhn and Hatate,” said Thompson about the win over Motherwell.
“It is fairly frightening because you look at the impact of the subs.
“But I heard Brendan Rodgers earlier on being asked, I think it was on the radio, about strengthening in January and he says ‘Yes, I want to bring more firepower to the team’. That has to frighten every other team, surely?!”

Who could be Celtic’s third striker?
The two men fighting for a starting spot up front for Celtic are Kyogo Furuhashi – who holds the main key – and summer signing, Adam Idah.
But, it seems as though Rodgers wants to add another face to the attack and it will be interesting to see what road he goes down.
There are suggestions that Celtic could recall Johnny Kenny from his Shamrock Rovers loan spell, but perhaps fans would prefer a new name, instead.
Between them, Kyogo and Idah have netted 16 goals, with the Japan star playing over 1,500 minutes during that period, as posted by Transfermarkt.
