Celtic must conclude their summer transfer business a lot earlier than usual ahead of the new season.
The simple reason is that Brendan Rodgers has to qualify Celtic for the Champions League as Scotland’s coefficient has taken a hit in recent years.
Therefore, it would be ideal if the champions of Scotland have the majority of their players in as soon as possible because it will aid the team in their push to play the league phase of Europe’s elite competition.
One man has already been confirmed, and that’s returning left-back Kieran Tierney, as he dons the green and white colours again.
But further up the pitch, Celtic are about to enhance their attacking options with another incoming deal.

Rangers pundit impressed by Celtic’s incoming transfer Benjamin Nygren
There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks that Celtic want to sign winger Benjamin Nygren, and now there is a breakthrough.
But now it has got the Fabrizio Romano treatment because he stated on Saturday that Nygren to Celtic is a ‘Here We Go’ transfer, and £1.2 million has been paid to Nordsjælland for his talents.
Former Rangers man Gordon Dalziel likes the road Celtic are going down and thinks it ‘isn’t a big gamble, as well as ‘really good bit of business’, as he told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.
“That’s how Celtic do their business now,” said Dalziel. “They look at, and they are targeting young potential. Okay, people might say, ’23 isn’t young’. But there is still a lot of football left in the lad.
“£1.7 million for a team with the riches Celtic have got isn’t a big gamble, you would say. I think it’s good business. We don’t know what the lad can do.
“He has come to a big club, and there is lots of pressure. Brendan Rodgers is well-renowned for bringing on young players, so I think it could be a really good bit of business for Celtic because they certainly need players in those wide areas.”
Celtic to sign another wide player?
The attacking wide areas are an interesting one for Celtic, and it could be argued that another attacking option is needed on top of this Nygren deal.
Jota’s long-term injury has certainly put a spanner in the works, whilst Nicolas Kuhn’s drop in form hasn’t been helpful, and then someone like Yang isn’t taking his chances.
Either way, Dalziel expects another winger to arrive at Celtic Park, alongside Nygren, because of the lack of options Rodgers has to pick from.
“If you look at those wide areas, and Jota for that long-term injury,” said Dalziel. “You look at James Forrest. Another year again. He can be a brilliant squad player coming off the bench.
“But I don’t think he is a starter every single week. Yang has sort of struggled, so I am not surprised by (Nygren’s expected arrival). I don’t think it will be the only wide player that comes in.
“Brendan Rodgers loves his wide players with bags of pace. Bags of energy. Attacking football, so I see this as the beginning. I think he will bring in more.”
