Report: 2 more English teams look at Celtic loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers
Southampton and Fulham have joined the race to sign Celtic loanee Cameron Carter Vickers, 90Min have reported today.
The on-loan Tottenham defender has impressed this season as a mainstay in Ange Postecoglou’s defence, which has conceded just 19 goals in the Scottish Premiership this season.
His performances have led to sections of the Celtic support calling for the club to complete the option to buy they have agreed, with further reports suggesting that those behind the scenes have intentions to do just that.
As well as interest from Celtic, English Premier League sides such as Leicester City, Burnley and Wolves have been credited with early links to the American international defender.
According to 90min, Celtic faces more competition to sign Carter Vickers, with both Southampton and Fulham now taking an interest in the 23-year old, who has made 42 appearances for the Bhoys this campaign.
Southampton has previous links to signing players from Parkhead, with Virgil Van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and Fraser Forster making a move south of the border to head to St Mary’s.
On the other hand, Fulham has secured their place in the Premier League for next season and now appears to be looking to build their squad to stay up.
After such an impressive campaign in the green and white, Celtic were always going to face a fight on their hands for a player with Carter Vicker’s quality.
He has built up a fantastic relationship with fellow summer signing Carl Starfelt and has scored some crucial goals along the way for Postecoglou’s side.
Hopefully, come the summer, the club will be able to secure the services of the Tottenham loanee, with more trophies and Champions League football potentially luring Carter Vickers back to Parkhead.
For now, though, the focus of Carter Vickers and the rest of the squad will be securing the Premiership title in the final four games of the season.
