The transfer window may be closed but that hasn’t stopped Celtic from conducting two shrewd pieces of business this week.
Although the club cannot buy or sell players, that hasn’t stopped Brendan Rodgers from making moves to get some of his Celtic youngsters the opportunity to go out and get some first-team football.
And the Celtic boss has done just that by allowing Ben Summers and Matthew Anderson to go out on loan to Austrian Bundesliga 2 side, Admira Wacker.
The second-tier club had already discussed using their connection to Celtic this summer to try and get more young talent to improve their first team, and they got their wish.
Sporting director Peter Stoger couldn’t hide his delight as he talked up the two Celtic academy graduates.
Stoger ‘convinced’ Celtic youngsters will improve Admira Wacker
Summers and Anderson now have a full season to show not just Admira Wacker what they can do but also Celtic boss, Brendan Rodgers.
However, for now, Stoger couldn’t hide his delight at having two ‘highly talented’ Celtic youngsters in his ranks.
Stoger told Admira Wacker’s official website, “Matthew and Ben are two highly talented players who have been able to gain high-level experience at a young age.
“Matthew has already shown us what’s in it last season, and we’re happy to have him back with us. Ben brings a breath of fresh air in the offensive midfield and will give us new opportunities in the design of the game.
“We are convinced that both players will take our team significantly further this season.”
Ben Summers and Matthew Anderson’s Celtic futures
Both players have entered the final year of their contracts, and Rodgers must decide on their Celtic futures before next summer.
Young Summers now enters his second loan spell this season having spent last year at Dunfermline where he helped them settle into their return back to the Scottish Championship.
With just two appearances for the Celtic first-team, this will be a big move for the 20-year-old midfielder to prove he has what it takes to have a future in Paradise.

Matthew Anderson returns to the Austrian club for his second spell. The young Scotland U21 international made 22 appearances helping them to a fifth-placed finish.
Also 20, Anderson has work to do to show he can become a left-back option for Celtic and he did impress on the US Tour this summer against Manchester City.
It’s a big season for both and we all at 67 Hail Hail wish them the best of luck.
