Celtic are in Scottish Premiership action against Ross County this weekend as Brendan Rodgers’ men look to claim a sixth win on the trot.

Former Germany Under-20 international Nicolas Kuhn is expected to be involved after completing his £3 million move from Rapid Vienna earlier in the window.

Cameron Carter-Vickers will return to the fold after his recent injury issues following Rodgers‘ confirmation that the pair will be in contention.

The Irishman stated in his pre-match press conference: “Yeah, they will be involved against Ross County. They have both had a good week of training. It is great to see Cameron back again, so he will be involved.”

United States international Carter-Vickers has admirers from further afield this window and was reported to be a transfer target for West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Brentford earlier in the month.

Now a centurion at the Scottish Premiership champions, the former Tottenham Hotspur man has made 101 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys, notching five goals and two assists [Transfermarkt].

Cameron Carter-Vickers could be close to signing Celtic extension

According to US-based journalist Larry Henry Jr, who previously gave 67 Hail Hail the lowdown on Carter-Vickers, the 26-year-old is set to sign a new deal by the end of this week after an unnamed Qatari club were rebuffed in their attempts to sign the defender.

Previously, Celtic boss Rodgers has spoken to the media about his aspirations to keep hold of the imposing defender, stating: “There’s no doubt that Cam is one of the pillars of the team and, of course, we’d want to do that (extend his deal). That will happen in time, I’m sure. There have been talks on that between the club and his representatives, so let’s see where it goes.”

Cameron Carter-Vickers is pivotal for Celtic

Undoubtedly, Carter-Vickers is one of the most influential players in Rodgers’s squad and being able to secure his immediate future would be a major boost for Celtic.

Excelling in key metrics, the Southend-born man has recovered 5.8 balls alongside completing three clearances and 92% of his attempted passes per Scottish Premiership match this campaign [Sofascore].

Despite not being an outwardly vocal presence, Carter-Vickers leads by example with his performances, earning a match rating of 7.28/10 on league duty in 2023/24.

Looking forward, renewing his contract in Glasgow makes perfect sense, and hopefully, he can sign on the dotted line as soon as possible.
