Celtic are trying their hardest to close out one or two additions this window before the deadline strikes at 11.30 pm tonight.

Truthfully, it has been an underwhelming few weeks concerning Brendan Rodgers’ side in the market, with things only starting to accelerate in the final hours of play.

Norwich City striker Adam Idah is very close to being officially announced as a Celtic player after being pictured at Glasgow Airport yesterday night [PLZ Soccer].

The Republic of Ireland international will come in on a straight loan and won’t have any form of buyout clause inserted into his agreement.

Recruiting at left-back is next on the priority list for the Hoops, and the likes of Layvin Kurzawa and Hugo Bueno have been mentioned over the last 24 hours.

Greg Taylor has suffered a calf strain and will be out for the next few weeks, leaving only Alexandro Bernabei as a natural successor in the position.

Liam Scales and Mitchel Frame may also be viable candidates to feature on the left-hand side of defence; however, Adam Montgomery left the club on loan earlier this month to join Motherwell.

Adam Montgomery heading back to Celtic for treatment

Unfortunately, Montgomery suffered a hamstring injury at Motherwell last week that could keep him sidelined for at least three months.

Delivering an update on his situation, the Steelmen have now revealed the extent of his issue has meant that the 21-year-old has now returned to Celtic to undergo his rehabilitation after receiving news that he will be out for a ‘considerable’ period of time [Motherwell FC official website].

The Daily Record claim that his loan deal hasn’t actually ended, and he is merely travelling back to his parent club to receive treatment, which will hopefully mean the Scotland Under-21 international can go back to Fir Park eventually to continue his development.

Regardless of where his future lies in the long term, Celtic will wish Montgomery a speedy recovery as he begins his road back to match fitness.
