If Wilfried Nancy didn’t know what it truly feels like to be the Celtic manager, he will now.

Nobody wanted this start, but the reality is that it has happened, and it’s already put immense pressure on Nancy’s shoulders.

There was a lot of build-up to Nancy being appointed as Celtic manager, including several other names being touted for the job.

Given how Nancy has started, Alan Brazil has been clear that the club should have pushed for Kieran McKenna to replace Brendan Rodgers after his exit in October.

Has Wilfried Nancy been poorly advised since joining Celtic?

Kieran McKenna was ‘the one’ for Celtic after Wilfried Nancy’s start

Everyone is aware that Celtic are bigger than most in England, but the issue they face is competing with many of these clubs from a financial aspect.

To put it simply, the champions of Scotland can’t compete, and English teams are miles and miles ahead of what Celtic generate from the domestic scene.

Whilst McKenna was linked with the Celtic job, the fact of the matter is that he wasn’t appointed, even though Brazil thinks the Northern Irishman was ‘the one.’

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former striker did point towards Ipswich paying more money than Celtic, including how that could have been a factor.

Either way, given the sticky situation Nancy finds himself in ahead of Celtic’s League Cup final against St Mirren on Sunday at Hampden, Shebahn Aherne did add that she sympathises with the new man in the dugout.

“The Ipswich boy was the one to get,” insists Brazil. “But he probably thought, ‘I am not going up there. I am staying with Ipswich, and I will get Ipswich back.’

“If you look at the table. Ipswich are heading there. And, by the way, this might shock you. Maybe Ipswich pay more than Celtic.”

Ray Parlour: “In the Championship, you would.”

Shebahn Aherne: “I hope Nancy can turn it around. I really do. I feel for him.”

Brazil: “I am not sure he will. But I am not going to slag him, just let him get on with it.”
