Arne Engels had a baptism of fire when he first signed for Celtic this summer and to be honest, it’s been a bit of a whirlwind for the Belgian over the last two weeks.
As well as dealing with the hype of being Celtic’s most expensive signing ever, Engels was thrown in at the deep end for his debut after making his debut in the 3-0 win over Rangers at Celtic Park.
The youngster has also made his full international debut for Belgium against Israel before returning to Celtic early due to a suspension he picked up playing for the U21 side.
So it’s fair to say that Engels has had a lot to keep him excited over the last fortnight or so. And it seems that excitement continues after the young midfielder hears what song the Celtic fans have planned to sing for him.
Celtic fans plan Robbie Williams tribute
The Celtic supporters are renowned for their ability to be brilliantly creative when they concoct a song for their heroes.
Jota on the Wing is the most high-profile song of recent times after Ellie Dixon and Big Bemz both created their own versions of it and made it go viral online.
And now, it’s Engels’ turn and he sounded buzzing after hearing that the Celtic fans are turning Robbie Williams’ smash hit ‘Angels’ into a tribute for him.
Engels told The Herald, “I saw some comments about that under my picture [on social media], so that would be really nice, I’d love that!!
“It would be amazing.”
Engels settling into Celtic nicely
Despite his relatively hectic start to Celtic life, young Engels is settling into the club nicely. The midfielder looked calm and relaxed in his first media interview since his Parkhead move.
Engels also seems unfazed at the media activity and fan excitement surrounding his arrival and he paid tribute to his new Celtic teammates for helping him settle nicely into the club.

Engels continued, “It was only my second day in training today, so I haven’t had a lot of time to speak to anyone for a really long time or anything, it’s just been quick chats with everybody.
“It’s an amazing squad actually, everybody is young and also speaking English it is much easier for me to come in and enjoy my time here.”
On first impressions, it seems that Brendan Rodgers has captured a well-rounded player who also seems very grounded despite his quick rise in the media spotlight in Scotland.
With Hearts next up for Celtic, the fans will be hoping that they get another glimpse of their new hero to give him the first rendition of the new song that they have penned for him.
