Celtic told one player ‘isn’t endearing himself’ to fans, but Sebastian Tounekti is ‘very comfortable’

Given the pressures and expectations at Celtic, you don’t get much time to settle in.

You are judged pretty much straight away, and that in a ruthless fashion, as Sebastian Tounekti has made a brilliant start to life as a Celtic player.

Celtic’s win over Kilmarnock last Sunday, and his performance during that game, is what fans will expect of the summer signing in weeks and months to come.

But whilst Tounekti has impressed from the get-go, the same can’t be said for Michel-Ange Balikwisha on the other flank.

Sebastian Tounekti is impressing at Celtic

Celtic have lacked excitement on the wings, especially when Daizen Maeda went down the middle, and Jota suffered a long-term injury.

Yes, it’s early days, but there is something in Tounekti’s game, and Andy Walker wanted to give the Tunisia international his flowers for it.

Speaking on Go Radio, Walker praised the 23-year-old’s attitude, including how he looks ‘very comfortable’ on the flanks for Celtic.

“I like him,” said Walker about Tounekti. “I like his attitude. I like the way that he can go, both inside and outside. I like the fact that he is very comfortable getting to the byline.

“But equally, very comfortable coming in and having a pop at goal with his right foot. He looks to be an exciting player.”

But not so much Michel-Ange Balikwisha…

Whilst Tounekti is rightfully getting plaudits, there are still question marks over Balikwisha, and this is where he needs to get going, as quickly as possible.

The 24-year-old made his debut in the Glasgow derby, and looked pretty flat, as Walker thinks he ‘not quite endearing himself to the Celtic supporters yet.’

“On the other side, Balikwisha, not quite endearing himself to the Celtic supporters yet,” added Walker.

“We haven’t really seen him play some good stuff. It’s such an important part of the way that Celtic play.

“To get a lot from their wide players. To get to the byline. Get crosses in for the strikers, the other wide player and the midfield supporting runners. A bit more to come from him.”
