Celtic told that allowing ‘elegant footballer’ to leave this January is a ‘good move for all parties’

Celtic continue to allow fringe players to leave this January to try and get first-team football.

Stephen Welsh was allowed to leave the Bhoys on loan to go to KV Mechelen as the Celtic academy graduate looks to gain more first-team experience.

Rumours surrounding Celtic winger Luis Palma’s future continue as the Honduran’s struggles at the club continue under Brendan Rodgers.

The 24-year-old winger has barely featured since Rodgers returned as the Celtic manager and it seems he may also be allowed to leave the club this month.

However, one player who has been allowed to leave temporarily is midfielder Odin Thiago Holm who left Celtic to join LAFC until the end of the season.

As the Norwegian youngster prepares for his MLS debut, Holm and Celtic have been told that the move is best for both parties.

‘Elegant’ Odin Thiago Holm’s Celtic exit is a ‘good move’

Speaking about Celtic’s second exit of the January window, Andy Halliday talked up Holm and said that the loan deal will benefit both the club and the player.

Halliday told Superscoreboard [1h 22m 30s], “Was it the James Forrest testimonial, I just thought straight away, the type of player he was, I thought he looked very elegant, very technical. But I think it’s just a good move for all parties.

“He’s not played anywhere near enough football. I remember when he came to Celtic as someone who played an extreme amount of football for someone so young. So he’ll be just itching to get back out there and start playing football again.

“So it seems as if it’s a good move for all parties.”

The one stat that sums up Odin Thaigo Holm’s Celtic career

Holm arrived at Celtic to a glowing appraisal by Brendan Rodgers as the Hoops boss talked up the Norwegian as an ‘exciting young player’.

But it seems he couldn’t have been that exciting as he was barely given a chance to show his qualities at Celtic.

Just 16 appearances in the green and white Hoops meant Holm barely amassed 500 minutes of first-team football at Celtic Park.

Holm managed just one goal in his time at Celtic in the 5-0 win over Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup last season.

Hopefully, the 21-year-old will get the experience he needs at LAFC as he clearly seems to have no future with Celtic.
