It’s going to be a huge talking point throughout the season, unless something is confirmed sooner rather than later.
Everyone is aware that Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic contract expires at the end of next season, and as of this moment, a deal hasn’t been struck regarding a new deal.
It’s not even yet known if Rodgers wants to sign on the dotted line because he has been coy on the matter for several months now.
One thing is for sure, the Irishman won’t do what he did in 2019, and that’s leave Celtic midway through a campaign to join Leicester City.

Where will Celtic look if Brendan Rodgers doesn’t sign a new contract?
One thing is for sure: Celtic will have a plan in place if Rodgers does leave, and they have been successful post his exit before, as they proved with Ange Postecoglou.
Gordon Dalziel noted Postecoglou’s reign at Celtic, and how good it was, despite many, apart from himself, not knowing about the Australian before he moved to Glasgow.
Either way, speaking to Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Dalziel thinks Celtic’s ‘automatic’ thinking would be to go to the English Premier League if Rodgers does indeed go.
“I am sure that Celtic will be trying to convince Brendan Rodgers to sign a new contract,” said Dalziel. “Whether Brendan Rodgers goes ahead and signs that. It’s up to Brendan Rodgers and how he sees his future.
“He said that he is going to be the Celtic manager for another year, and he is going to stick by his word for that.
“But concerning another manager, you never know, because who would have guessed that Postecoglou, nobody had ever heard of him, apart from me, who played with him in Australia, had heard of Ange Postecoglou. He came into Scottish football and was absolutely brilliant, and then he gets a big move to Spurs.
“You might think, ‘okay, who is going to replace Brendan Rodgers?’, and automatically, you look down at the English Premier League.
“But clubs, like players, will be doing their homework on managers, whether it’s foreign managers, who fit the criteria of the club and the way Celtic go about their business.”
Celtic might get a ‘surprise’ with Rodgers
Everyone remembers the Greg Taylor contract saga. Will he sign a new deal, or will he go? In the end, Taylor signed for PAOK on a free transfer.
Of course, that wasn’t ideal for Rodgers because you want to plan ahead, so you presume the same applies here, and a final answer is needed as soon as possible because you don’t want to go into the final months of the season without a concrete decision.
But Dalziel stated a ‘surprise’ could be in store, and ‘midway’ through the next campaign, everyone will find out that Rodgers is staying.
“I don’t think Celtic will be looking down that avenue (of a new manager),” added Dalziel.
“They will be more concentrating on saying to Brendan Rodgers, ‘look, this is where your future lies. We have a project going here. Bringing in young players. Developing them. You are making them better. We are selling them on.’ Celtic have run their business very, very well indeed.
“Every time you hear him at the press conference. I think he is very happy at the club. I think he is very happy with the way things are going at the club.
“You never know. We might get a surprise during the season that Brendan Rodgers has decided to continue as the Celtic manager.”
