Celtic have had a great season.

Despite the disappointment of Celtic losing the Scottish Cup and the treble, a league and cup double alongside Champions League progression is a great return from boss, Brendan Rodgers.

The Celtic manager has now picked up four trophies out of six in his first two seasons since Rodgers returned to the club and fans have had plenty of great memories.

However, Chris Sutton has graded Rodgers’ season out of ten and in doing so, took a pop at Robbie Savage’s managerial record with a familiar put-down Hoops fans will recognise.

Chris Sutton rates Celtic’s season with brutal rating for Robbie Savage’s Macclesfield

Celtic fans have heard the long tired old argument that anyone can win the Scottish Premiership with the budget the Parkhead club have.

Well, this time, Sutton turned the tables on that and hit Robbie Savage with the same put-down Celtic fans are tired of hearing.

Sutton told BBC 606, “Oh, Celtic. Nine out of ten. Progressed in the Champions League.

“Really progressed in the Champions League. And another double, Rob. So nine. What about Macclesfield?”

Savage: “Ten.”

Sutton: “You’re not a ten, you’ve bought the league, Rob. I mean, anybody could have done what you did this season at Mac. I’ll give Mac a five. Okay, well done for going up.

Savage: “Macclesfield fans broke every record going in the history of the Northern Premier League.”

Other occasions Celtic hero Chris Sutton has put Robbie Savage in his place

This isn’t the first time Sutton has mocked Savage. The BBC pundit was taken to task by Sutton after his disrespectful comments about Celtic legend James Forrest when he said he should be scoring in every season at Celtic.

Sutton also disputed Savage’s comments about Celtic in the Champions League where the Macclesfield boss mocked the 2003 UEFA Cup team’s achievement.

And when it came to Savage’s bizarre claim about Rangers being the form team ahead of Celtic at the end of the season, Sutton pointed out the gap at the top of the table to disprove his nonsense.

Savage never really learns, does he?
