Chris Sutton slams Kris Boyd and tells him ‘you are making stuff up’ about Celtic and Brendan Rodgers

There has been a lot of outside noise around Celtic in recent months.

It’s not the norm for a club to have so much domestic success, but to be in the middle of so many fan protests and question marks over individuals’ heads.

Chris Sutton has been vocal about Celtic’s situation, including batting off any nonsense being spouted by other pundits on the matter. That even includes club legends, such as Neil Lennon.

But regarding Brendan Rodgers’ future at Celtic, Sutton wanted to put the loudmouth Kris Boyd right, as well as fellow Warm-Up pundit, Steven Naismith.

Chris Sutton dismisses Kris Boyd over Celtic and Brendan Rodgers comments

One thing is clear, Rodgers hasn’t been offered a new contract by Celtic, the man himself has stated that, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the campaign.

Boyd stated on the Warm-Up podcast that he ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if something was put on the table ‘not so long ago,’ but now it has all ‘come to a head.’

But Sutton wanted to shut all of that down by telling his fellow pundit, ‘you are just making stuff up’ on Celtic and Rodgers.

Boyd: “You can’t criticise Celtic, for the way it’s worked for years. But do you feel this cycle is coming to an end, the way it’s been operating?

Naismith: “You’ve never seen it, like it is now, have you?”

Boyd: “They’ll start winning games, and all of a sudden, it’ll it’ll calm down.”

Sutton: “The fan protests, I think, will carry on. But I think we’ve got to wait until January, really, January is going to be the key month, isn’t it? To see what happens in January, in terms of the number of games coming around. I think Celtic have got 20-odd games or whatever it is.

“Brendan will, no doubt, continuously be asked about his future, but I think he can just bat that away. It’s what happens in January, in terms in terms of recruitment.”

Naismith: “So, who makes that call, though? Who makes the call on the new contract?”

Sutton: “First of all, he has to be offered one.”

Naismith: “That’s what I am saying, who makes that call?”

Boyd: “I don’t think Brendan Rodgers has been happy with some of the signings that have arrived at Celtic. The Celtic board have made it quite clear that Brendan Rodgers is in charge of the signing policy. There are people probably in the background getting away with it.”

Sutton: “That wasn’t strictly what was said, was it?”

Boyd: “I wouldn’t be surprised if there was something on the table not so long ago, and now it’s come to a head.”

Sutton: “This is all massive speculation on both your parts.”

Boyd: “You dismissed it. You dismissed it.”

Sutton: “I’m dismissing everything you say on Celtic. You are just making stuff up. You are just making stuff up.”

Pep Guardiola is an example for Rodgers

Last season, Pep Guardiola was in the final 12 months of his Manchester City contract, with his team dominating proceedings on the domestic stage.

There was a lot of talk around his future, and on top of that, Man City’s form then hit a really, really bad patch, such as losing four in a row.

There were clouds over Guardiola’s head, but in next to no time, he signed a new deal, and everything was sorted.

So, anything can change at any moment for Celtic and Rodgers, regardless of the so-called ‘political’ noise around Parkhead.
