Chris Sutton’s Celtic ‘hunky dory’ verdict before telling Brendan Rodgers how many players he must sign this summer

Celtic have been brilliant again this season.

It’s looking like another Treble-winning campaign is in sight too. Celtic have already secured the Scottish League Cup and Scottish Premiership, with just the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen on May 24 the final piece of the puzzle.

Brendan Rodgers‘ side have dominated and broke all kinds of records, with the Celtic boss firmly amongst the club’s most decorated managers of all time.

The Bhoys are also within two league titles of Linfield’s record tally of 57 and will feel that record is firmly in sight.

We know it’s going to be a busy summer regardless though and Chris Sutton has urged Celtic to not rest on their laurels and back Rodgers in the summer.

Chris Sutton wants Celtic to make four signings this summer

Aberdeen’s title push lasted all of three months and Rangers were so far behind that Celtic didn’t have to think about them as Rodgers’ side won the league with ease.

Their strength in depth was epitomised by the 5-1 win against Aberdeen in midweek – where eight changes were made to the starting XI.

It might look like Celtic don’t need to be busy, but Sutton thinks that if anyone at the club is planning on putting their feet up, they should think again.

Writing in the Daily Record, he said: “They’ve been the best side in Scotland by a country mile and have produced some outstanding performances, while scoring a barrel load of goals.

“That doesn’t mean everyone can sit back all summer and think everything is hunky dory now.

“Celtic still need to tool up for the crucial Champions League play-off that could practically make or break the season.

“They need another striker, a winger to replace the injured Jota and I think they could do with a couple more first team players.”

A striker has to be Celtic’s priority in the summer

Sutton is right, Celtic can’t think they don’t need to strengthen, and it’s unlikely they will.

Plenty of positions need improvements in. Kieran Tierney rejoining as left-back improves that role but defenders, midfielders and attackers are needed.

A striker is the number one position though. Kyogo Furuhashi’s move to Rennes left Adam Idah as the only first choice striker and he needs support.

Johnny Kenny has been told to go out on loan next year despite scoring on his first start for the club.

David Strelec and Mathias Kvistgaarden seem like the frontrunners – with Kvistgaarden nearly joining Celtic in January.

Strelec could be available on the cheap though and that may swing the Hoops but getting another goal scorer in is vital.
