As we head into Christmas, we know that Celtic have lots to do if they are to retain the Scottish Premiership title.
It has been a tumultuous time to say the least for the Hoops, who have had to deal with a change in manager, as well as a significant update in the boardroom.
Brendan Rodgers resigned and was briefly replaced by the return of club legend Martin O’Neill before Wilfried Nancy became the new permanent Celtic manager.
Elsewhere, Peter Lawwell announced he would be stepping down as chairman at the end of the calendar year.

Celtic’s 2025/26 position vs Celtic’s 2024/25 position
To nobody’s surprise, this time last year was a much better position for Celtic.
At the time of writing, (22 December), the 18th gameweek of the season had taken place.
While Celtic beat Aberdeen 3-1 in 2025, they were held to a goalless draw by Dundee United in 2024.
But, the Hoops’ league position was far better last year. Not only were Rodgers’ side at the top of the table, they were also undefeated and had 48 points to their name.
Compare that to 2025, where the Bhoys are six points behind Hearts and in second place with 35, it is clear that there has been a huge drop-off.
When do Celtic play Hearts?
All eyes will be on when Celtic play Hearts in the league again.
The Jambos are six points clear, but have played an extra game, which could lead to a huge showdown at Tynecastle.
Hearts vs Celtic was pencilled in by Sky Sports to broadcast live, and will be on Sunday, 25 January 2026.

They will play each other once more this season, providing they both finish inside the top six split, which would take place some time after April.
By that point, Celtic will really need to hope that they have done enough to fend off the challenge from Derek McInnes’ side.
