Celtic will pay €8m to make Tomas Cvancara deal permanent

Celtic agreed a six-month loan deal to take Cvancara from the Bundesliga to the Scottish Premiership, as Plettenberg reveals the numbers behind the high-profile deal.

Plettenberg said on X, “Exclusive figures on Tomas Cvancara‘s move to Celtic.

“Celtic are covering full remaining salary until the end of the season, worth around €1m gross. At Borussia, he earns up to €2m gross per year.

“Celtic have a €8m purchase option for the summer. Smart deal.

“Cvancara is highly motivated and in top shape for his new chapter with the Hoops.”

Who will Celtic sign next?

Celtic have a number of positions they are targeting in the January transfer window as Martin O’Neill looks to bolster his squad.

A centre-back, winger and a right-back are said to be on the Celtic manager’s list as the clock ticks down on the window.

Whether there is enough time to conclude that many deals remains to be seen, but Celtic must do all they can to support O’Neill in his defence of the title.
