The arrival of Nicolas Kuhn at Celtic was met with a bit of a lukewarm response by the fans. Only because we had never really heard of the winger before.
The £3m buy from Rapid Vienna has struggled to make an impact in his first few outings in the green and white hoops.
But on Sunday against Livingston, the 24-year-old showed some of the promise that persuaded Brendan Rodgers to shell out the seven-figure fee for him.
And now, he is being tipped to kick on after his Sunday outing by John Hartson. The former Celtic hero was discussing Kuhn’s performance against David Martindale’s side and said that he is now a big fan of the former Rapid Vienna man.
Hartson said [The Go Radio Football Show], “Going onto Kuhn, I like him.
“Positive, direct, very very quick and I think the more games he plays, we’ll see a better version of Nicolas Kuhn.”
Nicolas Kuhn’s Celtic season so far
As discussed earlier. Kuhn has struggled in his short period at Celtic so far. Brendan Rodgers explained on Sunday that now his health issue has passed, the fans will start to see a better version of the winger.
And on his debut against Aberdeen, he did impress. A goal in the 1-1 draw with The Dons endeared him to the Celtic support immediately and he followed that up with a decent performance in the 2-1 Easter Road win against Hibs.
Rated 8.0 and 7.2 in both games respectively by Fotmob, his Celtic career started off relatively well.
However, he was then dropped to the bench for the Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren and came on as a second-half sub in the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock. In both games the German disappointed.

That led to Kuhn dropping out of the matchday squads for the win against Dundee and the following defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle so his inclusion in the Scottish Cup tie against Livingston was a bit of a surprise. But he didn’t disappoint.
Described as ‘the real deal‘ and as ‘a real threat‘ hopefully now that Kuhn has put his health issues behind him he can now do as Hartson says and improve under Rodgers for the remaining nine league games of the season.
Because if we want to have any hope of winning this league, we will need to see more consistency from Kuhn and the qualities that have had Brendan Rodgers signing his praises recently.
