Jason Cundy’s ruthless Celtic message to Man United after win over ‘terrible’ Rangers, O’Hara agrees

Celtic and Man United both progressed in Europe this week but on very different levels.

Celtic secured a Champions League playoff place on Wednesday night after the Hoops beat Young Boys at Celtic Park.

Man United beat Rangers on Thursday night and are well in contention for a top-eight finish in the Europa League after the Old Trafford win.

However, it seems that the performance of the English Premier League side has left Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara less than impressed as the two pundits made a prediction of whether or not Man United would challenge Celtic for the Scottish Premiership crown.

Rangers told there is still ‘a chasm’ to Celtic after Man United defeat

Cundy eviscerated both Man United and Rangers as he predicted whether or not the Premier League club could compete with Celtic for the SPFL title.

Cundy told talkSPORT [4m], “I’m looking at and the bits that I’ve seen from Celtic, I don’t think United would win the SPFL.

O’Hara: “Who? Celtic? Do you think they would finish second?”

Cundy: “Maybe. I mean, when you look at that tonight, right? So Rangers are some distance behind Celtic, right? There’s a chasm between them, and there’s another chasm between them and Aberdeen.

“It’s like you’re looking at snookers already. Rangers can go home and hold their heads up high.”

O’Hara: “Can they?

Cundy: “I think so. United were terrible. I thought Rangers were pretty damn poor as well in all honesty. Two bad teams.”

Man United told they would finish second to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership

“I thought looking at that,” continued Cundy, “I wouldn’t put a pound of Cundy money on Man United to go up in the SPFL and win the title. Not one single pound. Celtic will give them a game.

“Those two teams out there, they stunk the game out. That was a terrible spectacle. It was.”

O’Hara: “You’re right. Look, you’re only saying what we are all thinking.

Cundy: “It was a terrible spectacle. Two teams trying to find some form. I don’t know how these two teams, I don’t know what’s in store for them.

O’Hara: “Well they are 13 points below Celtic in the SPFL and you can see why.”

Cundy: “Yeah, I don’t know what the future holds for them this season. Man United are big enough, right? They’ll come out of it. Rangers. they’ve got enough money, they’ll come out of it but I don’t know at what level. That was that was that was a stink fest of a game.”

O’Hara: “Yeah, I agree.”

This kind of conversation always comes up whenever Scottish sides face English clubs in European competition but usually it’s the opposite way around.

Normally the debate is whether or not Celtic or Rangers could compete in the EPL with pundits down south generally being disrespectful to both clubs.

What’s also surprising is that Cundy is usually the first person to put the boot into Scottish football so for him to make this claim is quite refreshing.

Celtic fans know that their club can compete with some of the best clubs in Europe especially after Brendan Rodgers negotiated the group stages in Europe’s elite competition.

United supporters will need to make peace with the fact that for now, as well as being tipped to be second in the Scottish league, they can look forward to the draw in Europe’s second-tier competition.
