Jim Duffy has hit the nail on the head regarding the glaring lack of accountability from Dermot Desmond and the Celtic boardroom.
The chaos at Celtic Park is never-ending, with the legendary Martin O’Neill doing his utmost to remove the dark clouds by trying to secure the double, as the final few weeks of the campaign edge closer.
Duffy highlighted the Celtic hierarchy’s sheer refusal to hold their hands up and admit they have done ‘wrong’, which they have done time and time again this season.
“There is no room for confidence or optimism at this moment in time because they have had so many decisions wrong,” said Duffy.
“The hierarchy don’t seem to ever admit that they got things wrong… There always seem to be excuses made.”
Celtic’s season has been an unmitigated mess, and it hit a new low before the March international break when the Hoops were beaten at Dundee United.
Celtic are financially more profitable than most English Premier giants.

Jim Duffy urges the Celtic board and Dermot Desmond to take accountability
Brendan Rodgers may have gone about things the wrong way with his public frustrations at the start of the campaign, but as this miserable season drags on, he is being emphatically proven right.
While Celtic continue to suffer, Rodgers is enjoying the Saudi sun, and he is probably glad that he doesn’t have to deal with the likes of Desmond anymore.
Following the Irishman’s October exit, the Wilfried Nancy experiment was an absolute nightmare, and it’s 33 days the club deeply regrets.
Yet, has Desmond taken any accountability for that catastrophic appointment? No. Instead, the romantic return of O’Neill, twice over, has simply been used to paper over the boardroom’s glaring cracks.
This toxic disconnect was perfectly encapsulated by the abject, abandoned Celtic AGM.
The only time Celtic supporters actually hear from a Desmond, it’s Ross Desmond delivering a pre-written statement to verbally batter the support.
And let’s not forget Dermot himself verbally battering Rodgers when he departed on that dramatic Monday evening.
As Duffy rightly concluded on Clyde 1, screaming ‘sack the board’ is easy, but finding alternative investors to replace Desmond’s wealth in Scottish football is a massive hurdle.
“There is no room for confidence or optimism at this moment in time because they have had so many decisions wrong,” said Duffy.
“The only thing I think the Celtic fans might want to hear is a bit of admission. I think there is nothing the matter with that you get it wrong.
“Managers admitted it. Sometimes they say, ‘Oh, I got the team wrong.’ Players say, ‘Oh, I didn’t perform.’
“But it seems to be that the hierarchy don’t seem to ever admit that they got things wrong. Sometimes they do by people leaving their jobs. I know Paul Tisdale left, and things like that.
“For me, the recruitment side, and the responsibility of doing that, just seems to be as if it’s not really our fault. There always seems to be excuses made.
“The Dermot Desmond one is always difficult. Unless someone comes in with an enormous amount of money to invest in Celtic. It’s alright, people saying, ‘sack the board’, and all these types of things. That’s your opinion if you want that.
“But you need to have other investors to come in with significant sums of money, and there isn’t a host of money getting involved in Scottish football. It’s just not the case. Even a club with the fanbase Celtic have.”
