Johnny Kenny has outlined his ambitions to return to Celtic.
That’s despite the clamour from Bolton fans for him to commit his future to the club after their promotion to the Championship via the play-offs.
Kenny’s reputation among Celtic fans was significantly damaged by a poor run of form under Wilfried Nancy in which he simply couldn’t buy a goal, despite chances falling his way.
But his move to Wanderers saw him rediscover his way to goal, and he wants to keep his momentum going in Glasgow.
Does Johnny Kenny have a long-term future at Celtic?
Johnny Kenny: I relish the challenge at Celtic
Asked by the Daily Record about whether or not he believed himself to be capable of a 20-goal season in Glasgow, Kenny said: “Yeah, definitely.
“I think at Celtic, you get so many opportunities that I’d expect myself to get in and around that margin.

“You see Benjamin Nygren from midfield this year, he’s scored more than 20 in all competitions and I think there’s definitely an opportunity to do that.
“I think at every big club, there are two or three massive players in each position. Everywhere you go, there’s going to be something big, especially at Celtic, where we’re hopefully fighting in the Champions League and all the fronts in Scotland too. So I relish the challenge.
“It’s a big summer for me, I think. I really enjoyed the first six months of the season there and obviously had a poor few performances near the end where I missed chances but I have massive aspirations to go back to Celtic and to get back in there.
“Obviously, the manager is unknown at this moment in time, so I think it’s a fresh start for everyone once the manager is appointed and I’m really looking forward to it.
“Do I have a point to prove? A point to prove for myself, maybe, yeah, because I know the chances I can score.
“There were just a few rough games, but I’ve probably proved myself that I’m good enough to play for the club on a week-in, week-out basis.
“I was there the other weekend when they clinched the title against Hearts and the feeling around the place…
“I don’t think there’s a better club in the world to play for. The atmosphere, the fans, everything about the club… there’s just some sort of fairytale to it.”

How Johnny Kenny’s Celtic teammates fared on loan
Lech Poznan are desperate to sign Luis Palma after he hit double figures in both goals and assists on loan in Poland. It remains to be seen, however, whether the club have the financial means to make the move happen.
Hannover are also in talks to sign Maik Nawrocki, but their failed bid for promotion to the German top-flight could tempt Bundesliga clubs to enter the race.
In the same position, Stephen Welsh has enjoyed a stellar season at Motherwell. Whether or not he fancies a return to his backup role at Celtic remains to be seen.
Shin Yamada is also set to return from the German second tier; he scored three goals in the last five games of the season with Prussia Munster.
