Kieran Tierney has hit back at critics after hearing what has been said about his time at Celtic this season.

The Celtic defender has been an ever-present in the Hoops’ starting XI and has been one of the best players so far this season.

Under Martin O’Neill, it looks like Tierney’s fitness at Celtic has improved as he has continued to build up from lack of game time during his Arsenal spell.

Kieran Tierney slams whispers about Celtic defender’s fitness

There have always been doubts thrown around in the media over Kieran Tierney’s fitness levels, doubts that 67 Hail Hail disproved about the Celtic defender whilst he was still at Arsenal.

And now, Tierney has had his say after hearing the same nonsense this season.

Tierney told the Daily Record, “I’m feeling good. I just let other people talk, because it was always going to be the case. People are always going to talk, so I just need to let them do it, because I know how hard I work.

“On the training pitch, in the gym, doing my recovery stuff, and on the game at the weekend or midweek, I know how hard I work, so I’m not too bothered, to be honest, with what people say.

“I think I’ve missed one game, and that was just more of a risky game, just because I had three 90 minutes in the one week, which was the first time I’d done that. It was actually the gaffer’s first game against Falkirk.

“That’s the only game they put me out of the squad, just to be careful. Other games have been there and have been available.”

Kieran Tierney’s impressive minutes for Celtic this season

Tierney has only missed three games for Celtic this season as the defender bids to make his 31st appearance against Falkirk tonight.

In that time, the full-back has completed NINE full 90-minute games with a further nine 70 minutes or over.

Tierney is looking fitter and stronger and against Dundee United, the Celtic defender was excellent.

If Martin O’Neill can continue to get these minutes from the Scotland man, Tierney will have a massive say in whether or not Celtic will successfully defend their title this season.
