Celtic finally got that title over the line at the weekend.

From St Johnstone to Kilmarnock, there were so many checkpoints where Celtic could and should have confirmed their crown.

But time and time again, Brendan Rodgers’ side, to his frustration, shot themselves in the foot, so those title celebrations continued to be delayed.

However, on Saturday, the job was finally done when Celtic thrashed Dundee United to pencil in a record-breaking 55th Premiership title for Scotland’s most successful club.

As you can imagine, the plaudits were flying in left, right and centre, for all manner of people, from Celtic-mad Trevor Sinclair to legendary figures of the club.

A few players, who were loaned out during the January transfer window, Luis Palma and Stephen Welsh also sent their flowers.

Celtic were pretty busy during the January transfer window, including Palma moving to Greece and joining Olympiacos until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Welsh secured a similar move by joining Belgian side K.V. Mechelen.

Welsh took to his Instagram story to congratulate everyone at Celtic on their achievement, as Palma, using his Instagram story, also showed his love.

‘Congratulations, guys and everyone,” wrote Palma. “Well done,” added with a raised hand and four-leaf clover emoji.

“Congratulations to the lads and everyone involved,” wrote Welsh, adding a trophy and four-leaf clover emojis.

The bad news for Palma and Welsh…

Both players did actually start Premiership matches for Celtic this season, but were mainly used sporadically by their manager.

The bad news for the duo is that they won’t get a medal because they simply didn’t play enough matches.

The SPFL rules state that you need to play a minimum of ten matches to qualify for a medal, with Palma falling just short.
