Martin O’Neill has confirmed that one of his stars is unlikely to play again for the Hoops this season.
Injuries have been the story of Celtic’s season as several key players have spent lengthy periods out on the sidelines.
Despite the return of Callum Osmand to training, O’Neill confirmed in his press conference before the St Mirren clash that one player had suffered a setback and is almost certainly done for the year.
Will Celtic regret not inserting an option to buy in their Julian Araujo loan from Bournemouth?
Martin O’Neill confirms Julian Araujo may miss the rest of the season
Julian Araujo has been a fan favourite ever since he walked through the door at Celtic Park but has been forced to miss the last few games due to injury.
Araujo has been recovering at parent club Bournemouth but appears to have suffered a setback in his rehabilitation, and a gutted O’Neill has revealed that it would be a surprise if we saw him again.
He told Celtic TV: “Julian re-injured himself, that is a real blow, I don’t think we’ll see him again this season.”

Meanwhile, Colby Donovan, who went off injured against Dundee, isn’t expected to be out for a long time and Alistair Johnston should also return soon.
“It hopefully won’t be too long [Donovan]. He’ll miss next week as well, but he’s doing well. Johnston trained with the team today, which was very encouraging. I don’t think he felt any ill effects, but he did join in before and then re-injured himself with the national team,” he added.
“We need him as soon as possible…if he comes through today and with a good week’s training next week, who knows.”
