Wilfried Nancy is getting pelters from every angle.

It has been a morale-sapping month for Nancy, who was on cloud nine at the start of December, because he was Celtic’s new manager.

But now Nancy’s reputation is in tatters, after he was sacked by Celtic on Monday after just 33 days in charge.

Michael Stewart has watched the champions of Scotland very closely during that time, and he didn’t hold back when he reacted to Nancy’s brutal exit.

What do you think is the main reason Wilfried Nancy couldn’t buy a win as Celtic manager? 🤔

The stats are damning…

Michael Stewart slams Wilfried Nancy after he is sacked by Celtic

Stewart didn’t mince his words about Nancy, and how he has caused ‘so much damage’ in such a short period of time.

Yes, things were bad under Brendan Rodgers at the end of October, but Martin O’Neill had brought that winning feeling back to the dressing room, only for it to all come crashing down under Nancy.

So much so that Stewart claimed on Premier Sports that even a ‘punter off the street’ wouldn’t have caused the damage that Nancy did.

“I remember prior to the Premier Sports Cup final, having seen his first two games against Hearts and Roma, and just thinking, ‘this cup final has much more riding on it,'” said Stewart.

“If he goes three games, three defeats, and loses the cup final. I just thought it was only a matter of time from that point on, and so it’s proven.

“Literally everything else that has unfolded from then has just been a disaster, in every sense of the word. Unrest in the changing room. Backroom staff are not happy. Performances on the part were utterly abysmal. Delusion post-match and pre-match pressers. The whole lot.

“You would be really hard to find someone who could do so much damage in a short period of time.

“I don’t mean this lightly, by the way, I honestly believe you could have picked any punter off the street, and I don’t think they would have done as badly as Wilfried Nancy has done.

“Due in part to people off the streets knowing, to a certain extent, their limitations. They wouldn’t change the system. They wouldn’t go around making so many changes behind the scenes as well.

“It’s clearly created an atmosphere of animosity, frustration and downright anger, I would suggest, which leads to six defeats out of eight games. A punter off the street wouldn’t have managed all of that.”

What was ‘so obvious’ about the Celtic players under Nancy

Following Celtic’s defeat to Rangers, many would have heard Luke McCowan’s scathing assessment of it all.

Stewart mentioned that, and how the players just weren’t aligned with what Nancy was telling them to do.

“It was so obvious that the players were desperate and lost, and that is an indictment on the manager,” added Stewart.

“I have seen a lot of comments on Luke McCowan and what he said. There are a lot of negative comments, in terms of ‘outrageous’ or ‘you get lost as well.’

“Or there are other people saying, ‘he’s hurting, it’s clear and good for him to say.’ This is the crux of it.

“When you are a player, and you are in a situation like that. It’s just a disaster involving you. You are thinking to yourself, like a Callum McGregor. He can see this is only going to end in one way.

“He is thinking, and I am not putting words in his mouth, ‘the quicker this ends, the better.'”
