The reaction from the United States of America following Wilfried Nancy’s sacking at Celtic has been an interesting one.
This is a guy who was ‘MLS coach of the Year in 2024’, and he was highly regarded on that side of the pond.
Many Stateside viewers were intrigued and glued to see how Nancy would fare at a club the size of Celtic.
But after Nancy just lasted 33 days at Celtic, some MLS followers have taken issue with the call and defended the Frenchman’s reign in Scotland.
What message would you send Wilfried Nancy as Celtic sack the manager?

Taylor Twellman reacts to Celtic sacking Wilfried Nancy
When the news broke on Monday that Nancy was gone, Taylor Twellman wrote on social media that it was ‘inevitable.’
One thing the former USMNT international was correct in saying was that the whole situation was a ‘mess’, given how Celtic have acted following Brendan Rodgers’ exit in October.
But there was one MLS account that suggested that Nancy should have had ‘five clear wins’, but he was let down by the finishing.
This MLS account noted Celtic’s xG and how much higher it was than their opponents.
When Twellman read this, he simply stated, ‘Now show the goals given up’, as Celtic shipped 18 goals during Nancy’s time in charge, and how that was also a major factor in him losing six out of eight matches.
Whilst others were deluded on the matter, Twellman wasn’t having any of that nonsense and agreed with Celtic’s call.
‘Inevitable when you lose 6 of 8,’ wrote Twellman. ‘Does he take a job immediately or take a break?! The board, the club, the players and the manager = mess.
‘Now show goals given up. xG is a tool, but can NOT be your ultimate deciding factor. I watched 5 of these games, and they were porous in the back. There is no denying that.
‘MON won 7 of 8 with no preseason as well.’
Celtic situation branded a ‘circus’ as Martin O’Neill returns
The relief for Celtic fans is that Martin O’Neill is back, and hopefully, things could and should get back to winning ways, starting with Dundee United at the weekend.
But when news broke about O’Neill’s return, Twellman could only laugh on social media, and he added that he should ‘never’ have left in the first place.
The positive is that Celtic are still in the title race, and what damage this period of the campaign has caused the club will only be known in May.
If Celtic lift title number 56, then many will puff their cheeks out and breathe a sigh of relief. But it still shouldn’t hide away from the fact that serious change is needed, from top to bottom.
