Celtic still have a lot to play for as the 2024/25 season draws to a close.
Once again, it’s Celtic who are champions of Scotland, and showing everyone the way, after they confirmed their Premiership crown over the weekend by thrashing Dundee United.
This Sunday, it’s the small matter of making the short trip to Ibrox and locking horns with Barry Ferguson’s Rangers for the final Glasgow derby of the season.
After losing the last two matches against Rangers, the champions, who will surely celebrate in front of their rivals, will want to put the previous wrongs right.
But there is perhaps an even more important match on the horizon that would lead to another Treble for Brendan Rodgers – and that’s the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen in May.
However, the noise around it all and what is being said about Celtic isn’t sitting well with Neil Lennon.

Neil Lennon hits out at critics if Celtic win the Treble
You can only beat what is in front of you, and that’s what Celtic have done this season, the previous campaign and the previous campaign.
Yet, some feel that, if Celtic go on to win the Treble, then it would be a ‘tedious’ Treble win, as one report in the Daily Mail suggested.
As you can imagine, Lennon was quick to shut down the nonsense that has been spouted around this all, as he told PLZ Soccer.
“A tedious Treble? Never heard something ridiculous in all my life,” responded Lennon. “I think it’s very, very special to win a Treble.
“This is the standard Celtic have set now. People get disappointed if they don’t win a Treble, that’s how good they are.
“For people to come out for those sort of comments, you are disingenuous. You don’t realise the lengths. The studying and the preparation, managers, staff and players have to make to achieve all of that.”
Lennon on Celtic making winning Trebles look easy
When Martin O’Neill won the Treble, just after the turn of the century, it was seen and regarded as something pretty rare.
But, it seems as though, because Rodgers is delivering them like the Postman on his daily routine, it is taking away the difficulty of it all.
However, that’s not the case, and Lennon wanted to give the Celtic manager his flowers for how he is managing to churn all of this out time and time again.
“When Martin O’Neill won it in 2001, it was the first time Celtic had won it for 29-30 years,” said Lennon.
“Brendan has come in, you are talking about doing it three out of four years. It’s incredible. It’s a testament to his management skills. His intelligence. His way of leading the team and driving the narrative for that team.
“It’s very special when it comes, and it would be a very difficult thing to do considering the competition. People say, ‘there is a lack of competition’. That’s not on Celtic. It’s on the rest competing and making it very difficult for them, and it is difficult.
“Every team raises its game to play against Celtic week in and week out. You have to overcome the hurdle and the pressure that brings. Also, the criticism when it doesn’t come.”
