Police Scotland make decision on Rangers star Vaclav Cerny’s Celtic Park ‘watergate’ disrespect

Vaclav Cerny sparked chaos a fortnight ago when he skooshed water in Celtic fans’ faces after Rangers’ derby day winner.

The Czech was branded ‘infantile’ by two former referees while the SPFL still considers a ban for the Gers man whose disrespect reached new heights.

Barry Ferguson absolved his player with a predictable response about “excitement” taking over while Brendan Rodgers insisted Cerny crossed a line in a measured verdict.

Police Scotland had launched an investigation into the incident which was captured on Sky Sports’ cameras as Rangers celebrated their 3-2 win over Celtic on March 16.

Vaclav Cerny faces no further Police Scotland action for Celtic vs Rangers water chaos

It was an issue which spiraled out of control but now the cops have concluded their probe and decided against any further action.

They did, however, say they have spoken to the Ibrox club about their player’s actions but will not escalate Cerny’s nonsense beyond their initial view.

The Daily Record report Police Scotland’s statement as: “We received information, enquiries were carried out and no criminality has been established.

“Officers have engaged with the club and advice was given.”

Cerny’s moment of madness reached the pundits down south with Simon Jordan having his say on the action while Danny Murphy proved he doesn’t understand the rivalry with his own thoughts.

Celtic squad told how to take revenge on Cerny in ‘petty way’

It was all a bit messy and unnecessary on that day where Rangers celebrated like they’d won the league and as if Celtic’s Scottish Premiership lead was not still sitting at a mega 13 points.

The Hoops remain the best team in the country and one bad day at Celtic Park certainly won’t change that.

Celtic’s squad were even told by one pundit and ex-pro down south how to get revenge on Cerny in what would be a particularly petty way to do it.

Gabby Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT: “Do you know how petty I am Al (Brazil)? If I was a Celtic player, Callum McGregor or something and we play them next time, when he’s not looking or at half-time walking off…I’m squirting him, right after the game,” Agbonlahor laughed.

“I’m getting the water bottle and I’m going to squirt him in the face with it.

“It’s petty isn’t it? It’s not a big deal and it’s quite funny.”
