Hyunjun Yang looked like the next person to head for the exit door at Celtic Park.
Birmingham City were waiting to sign Yang after he travelled down from Glasgow ahead of a proposed £3m move to St Andrew’s.
Brendan Rodgers was insistent that Yang wouldn’t leave Parkhead unless a replacement was found.
Now, with time running out, Celtic have decided on what they will do with the 23-year-old.
Celtic pull the plug on Hyunjun Yang to Birmingham City transfer
A bombshell update from Peter Smith has confirmed that Yang’s potential move to Birmingham has been called off.
Smith has confirmed that the winger will return to Scotland, now that a deal to bring him to the Championship club is dead.
This now opens the door for Gent to sign Yang, and the Belgian Pro League side would be in no rush to get the transfer done as the window doesn’t close until 8 September in Belgium.
Celtic’s Yang decision suggests no winger will be arriving
It appears that the 23-year-old will be staying with the Celtic squad and that could have a big say on what happens for the remainder of the Bhoys’ window.
Sebastian Tounekti has been the subject of three bids but Hammarby are desperate to keep the Tunisian winger.
Deadline day ends at 11pm. Will we see anyone join in time?
