It’s not even December yet and Celtic fans could probably pick out four players, maybe even five, players who are contenders for the player of the year.
An unbeaten start to the domestic season coupled with the possibility of progressing in the Champions League is a measure of just how good this Celtic team is under Brendan Rodgers.
Callum McGregor has added goals to his game. Alistair Johnston has stepped up and even been given the captain’s armband. Daizen Maeda has been immense and Reo Hatate has been a technician in the heart of the Bhoys’ midfield.
Celtic’s thumping win over Hearts last night put the club three points ahead of Aberdeen and eleven in front of Rangers and even at this early stage of the season, the title race for the Ibrox club looks all but over.
But there is one player who has been playing out his skin this season and, in truth, he has been a standout in the green and white Hoops. And Chris Sutton just couldn’t get enough of him at Tynecastle last night.

Nicolas Kuhn has been in tremendous form both home and abroad for Celtic this season. Now with 11 goals and 11 assists, the German winger has a big fan in Sutton.
After he scored Celtic’s second goal in the Hearts win, Sutton said Kuhn is having a superb season in the green and white Hoops.
Sutton said on Sky Sports, “That is absolutely clinical from Nicolas Kuhn.
“From a Hearts free kick, Maeda heads it into Kuhn initially but the early pass back to Kuhn, he’s just thinking, ‘I’m putting my laces through this’ and boy, does he!
“That is a phenomenal finish. The pace beats Craig Gordon and Celtic, we felt, there were more levels to come in the second half.
“What a season he’s having.”

Kuhn is a shadow of the player Celtic fans witnessed last season at Parkhead. Recovering from illness, the Hoops hero is now proving he is worth every penny of the £3m Brendan Rodgers spent on him in January.

- 5th: Celtic 5 v 2 Falkirk. Kuhn sparks Celtic into like after coming on as a substitute to overturn a 2-1 deficit at half time in the League Cup.
- 4th: Celtic 6 v 0 Aberdeen. The game was over as a contest in the League Cup final but
- 3rd: Hibs 0 v 2 Celtic: Kuhn scored with just three minutes on the clock to settle Celtic early in the capital win.
- 2nd: Ross County 1 v 2 Celtic. Kuhn pops up in the 88th minute to nab the win when it looked like Celtic were resigned to dropping their first points of the season.
- 1st: Celtic 3 v 1 RB Leipzig. Arguably his best goal of the season, Kuhn’s equaliser against the Bundesliga side was simply world-class.
It looks like this could be one of the best season’s Kuhn has experienced in football as the German winger continues to wow the pundits and Celtic supporters alike.
