Martin O’Neill has hinted about when we could see Callum Osmand and Arne Engels return to the playing squad for Celtic.
Osmand was spotted back on the grass for the first time since his hamstring problem while Engels has joined in with training for the last few weeks.
Alistair Johnston is also training but the Hoops have lost Julian Araujo for the season. However, O’Neill has provided two positive updates on when Osmand and Engels may be able to feature.
Is Nygren Celtic’s most important player?
If not, who is?
Callum Osmand and Arne Engels timeline set out
Engels is a lot further in his progress and the Hoops’ record signing could be in contention to feature against St Mirren this weekend.
O’Neill said: [Arne] Engels has trained,” said O’Neill. “I’m hoping that he’ll come through that. He’s trained all this week.
“He’s had no reaction at this minute, so I’m hoping he’ll come into the squad [vs St Mirren] – whether he’ll start or not I don’t know.”

As for Osmand, the teenager isn’t close to returning any time soon but the Celtic boss is optimistic about his chances of playing before the season ends.
“He’s doing really well,” added the 74-year-old. “He’ll do the same sort of work as [Alistair] Johnston next week, which is encouraging.
“Sometimes I’m loath to say someone is doing really well and then they get re-injured – like Julian [Araujo].”
