Jeffrey Schlupp enjoyed a fruitful short spell in the colours of Celtic this season.
The 32-year-old’s arrival in January was a bit of a surprise because Celtic fans were expecting Kieran Tierney to return in the winter when they cut short Alex Valle’s loan spell.
But Tierney will now return in July, as Schlupp was brought in on transfer deadline day, and pretty much straight away, he became a starter under Brendan Rodgers.
Greg Taylor was having a difficult time, so something needed to change, and Schlupp made it count when Rodgers first threw him into the big spotlight.
Towards the end, the on-loan Crystal Palace star was back on the bench, including for Celtic’s Scottish Cup final defeat to Aberdeen.
That proved to be Schlupp’s final bow in the colours of the green and white, as he shared what it was like playing for Scotland’s most successful club.

Jeffrey Schlupp on his time at Celtic
The big games were put on Schlupp’s plate pretty much straight away, including the Champions League showdowns against Bayern Munich and the derby matches.
Schlupp stated that, before he joined, ‘everyone’ told him about the ‘atmosphere’ at Celtic, and how it all turned out to be ‘amazing’, as he told Sky Sports News (27/05/25).
The title winner with Celtic also shared his thoughts on getting ‘into the thick of things’ just as he stepped foot into Glasgow.
“The recent memory of the cup final is a bit of a sore one,” said Schlupp. “But fully deserved by Aberdeen.
“Personally, I had a great time up there. Loved every minute of it. I managed to go there and get into the thick of things straight away, which was an experience.
“The atmosphere, and everything everyone told me about (at) Celtic that I was going to expect was amazing.”
Schlupp on what it was like playing for Celtic against Rangers
There isn’t a bigger rivalry in Europe, or around the world, than Celtic and Rangers.
Schlupp managed to experience two games, including the unfortunate defeat on home soil to Barry Ferguson’s side.
The soon-to-be free agent explained what it was like playing in such a game of high magnitude, even though the first one was a loss.
On the derby games: “It was wicked,” added Schlupp.
“My first derby. We lost it. A great game for the neutral, I am sure. But that wasn’t too nice, but the atmosphere and everything around it was top class. I am just happy to be part of that.”
