Celtic need to do everything they can to ensure Julian Araujo story has a happy ending

Julian Araujo’s season, and possibly Celtic career, is over. But, the Hoops can stop that from happening.

Martin O’Neill confirmed that Araujo was unlikely to return after suffering a setback while recovering from injury.

The full-back penned an emotional statement on Instagram thanking the Celtic support and wishing them the best for the future. This wasn’t how the story was supposed to end, and the club should be going all-out to make sure it’s not the final chapter.

Celtic need to sign Julian Araujo permanently

Celtic fans loved Araujo and would do anything to see the Mexican full-back return to Parkhead permanently.

From acting as the chief wind-up merchant in the win against Rangers to his crazy celebration following his last-minute winner against Kilmarnock, the Bournemouth loanee got what it meant to play for the club.

Araujo’s cousin hinted that he wanted to stay earlier in the year and while it is likely to cost the Hoops a premium, having someone of that character in the dressing room makes everyone better.

Only one Celtic player wins from Julian Araujo injury

Alistair Johnston and Colby Donovan would still be in contention, even with Araujo in the squad but one player who looked set for the exit door was Anthony Ralston.

Having hardly featured since the Mexican’s arrival from January, Ralston is now likely to come into the fold since Johnston and Donovan are also on the sidelines.

It is a rare chance for him to come in from the cold and try and prove to everyone that he is still up to the standards or either put himself in the shop window and get a move away in the summer.
