Jens Berthel Askou is one of the favourites for the Celtic job but whoever comes in is going to have to hit the ground running.
Celtic fans are keen to see Askou become the new Hoops boss and have been impressed by the work he has done at Motherwell.
It wasn’t always like that, though, with current Well player Paul McGinn explaining how the Dane wasn’t initially a hit with the team.

Would you take Jens Berthel Askou in the event that Martin O’Neill leaves Celtic in the summer?
Motherwell players initially doubted Jens Berthel Askou
McGinn appeared on Premier Sports’ podcast and discussed the work of Askou and how he has thrived under him.
He wasn’t afraid to admit that there were doubts about the way he set the team up and how it took some time to get up to speed.
“You’d be lying if there wasn’t doubts”, admitted the defender.
“We were huffing and puffing a bit and you’re thinking, how can this work? We conceded a goal at Clyde. We were really high up and the keeper gets lobbed for about 30 yards.
“What you notice in some of the drills is within about two or three weeks, the standard of it had started to creep up pretty fast.”

Celtic will have to trust the Jens Berthel Askou vision
It is obvious that, irrespective of the quality in the squad, there will be mistakes that take place.
Changing to a possession-based philosophy won’t be too much of a culture shock for the Celtic players; it will be the intensity of it.
With a huge squad rebuild coming up, new players will need time to bed in and while change might not happen overnight, players will get better.
If Askou is to be appointed, he will need to come in before the World Cup starts so that it gives him the best chance to lay down his marker quicker.
