‘Am I mad’ – Si Ferry and Andy Halliday react to what Celtic are about to do in the transfer market

Celtic have concluded or been a part of several low-key deals so far this summer.

Yes, there has been a lot of noise and action regarding incoming and outgoings at Celtic, but nothing major on the transfer front for Brendan Rodgers.

Kieran Tierney has been the standout arrival, but that was expected, whilst a few back-up players have departed.

But now, it could all change with Celtic’s first big sale of the window because Nicolas Kuhn is expected to leave in the coming days.

Nicolas Kuhn set to leave Celtic and join Como

Kuhn was recently pictured on a private jet heading for Italy and Como because he is about to sign for Cesc Fabregas’s side in Serie A.

Si Ferry simply can’t believe that the German is pushing to leave a club like Celtic for Como, who were promoted to Italy’s top-tier last season, as they secured a top ten finish.

But his fellow Open Goal pundit, Andy Halliday, thinks that Celtic will be ‘buzzing’ with this deal, as they are expected to land just over £16 million for his talents.

Ferry first stated: “Nicolas Kuhn is going to Como. Would you ever leave Celtic for Como?”

Halliday responded: “For living there, I would, aye, but as a club, nah.”

Charlie Mulgrew also added: “A great piece of business by Celtic.” Before Halliday asks: “Serie A? What do you think of Serie A?”

Ferry then responded: “Who was it that Juranovic was going to go to? Monza, mate. Como and Monza?! Bleeping two banks. Leaving Celtic to go to Como? Am I mad?”

Halliday then added: “I think Celtic are buzzing with that. £19 million for Kuhn.

“Kuhn was brilliant. I don’t know. It’s harsh to say, but I always felt like that was his ceiling. Do you know what I mean? I don’t think he is going to get much better, so I think it’s kind of perfect to sell him. What did they sign him for? £3-4 million.”

Celtic to face Kuhn this month?

Kuhn was in Glasgow for 18 months after joining from Rapid Wien during the January transfer window of 2024.

It was well-documented that the all-action winger struggled for the first six months, but was outstanding for the first half of the 2024/25 season, before hitting a brick wall and ending pretty quietly.

So, effectively, he has only performed at his best for six months, and it’s going to be interesting to see how things pan out in Como, as Celtic could reunite with Kuhn sooner than everyone thinks.
