Celtic could go up against one of their former players in pre-season after he was tipped to join Como.

Brendan Rodgers’ side will compete in the Como Cup in July as part of their 2025 pre-season preparations where they will face the Italian side.

Cesc Fabregas’ side have already eyed up Nicolas Kuhn and could be adding a former Hoop to their ranks.

Carl Starfelt linked with Como transfer

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Como are interested in Carl Starfelt this summer.

The Sweden international, who left Celtic in 2023 to join Spanish outfit Celta Vigo has been tipped to join the Serie A side, who are making a real go of it in the transfer window this summer.

Former Celtic loanee Alex Valle joined Como permanently in the summer and with Kuhn on their radar, a Celtic connection looks like it’s beginning to form.

Starfelt made 30 appearances in all competitions for Vigo last season, scoring one goal.

Celtic finally set to replace Carl Starfelt

Considering he left in 2023, one of Celtic’s biggest struggles has been to replace Starfelt.

His performances alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers made the Hoops a real solid side at the back but since then, Liam Scales, Auston Trusty and Maik Nawrocki have all tried and failed to nail down a starting spot.

Hayato Inamura is heading to Scotland to join Celtic and will fit the philosophy of having a left-sided centre-back in the side.

Inamura featured in Albirex Niigata’s 4-0 defeat at the weekend but alongside Carter-Vickers, could develop into a top talent.
