Celtic’s search for a new striker goes on.
It’s pretty crazy that Kyogo Furuhashi left Celtic in January, the club didn’t replace him, yet that very same player has since made another transfer to Birmingham City, all whilst Brendan Rodgers still searches for the Japan star’s replacement.
But it’s all about Celtic getting the right man in, even if it means that striker arriving later during the 2025 summer transfer window.
Callum Osmand has signed from Fulham, but he is yet to make a senior appearance, whilst Adam Idah and Johnny Kenny are the other options, but they aren’t filling the fans with hope.
So, how about the champions of Scotland add another Irish player to their ranks?

Andy Townsend’s warning to Celtic transfer target Evan Ferguson
67 Hail Hail brought you the news of Celtic’s interest in Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, as he searches for a new club this summer.
Ferguson was labelled the ‘mini Haaland’ on talkSPORT, with Republic of Ireland legend Andy Townsend urging him to make sure his next move ‘starts working’.
But Townsend made it clear that the 20-year-old shouldn’t secure a move to AS Roma.
“Aged 20 at Brighton, recently on loan at West Ham,” said Shebahn Aherne. “A young Irish powerhouse, with a knack for clinical finishing. He has been compared to a mini Haaland for his direct style.”
Townsend stated: “Evan has got to get playing now on a real regular basis. There is no doubt that he is a very talented young player in there.
“He has bounced around a little bit without really ever convincing those that he is working for, but he has got to do that now. This one (the next move) has got to start working.
“I don’t know if he has got quite enough about him to go there (to Roma), at the moment, and become something very special there. I am not sure about that one. I probably wouldn’t be doing that.”
Ferguson’s career in numbers
There came a point when Ferguson was one of the hottest teenagers in the footballing market, and fees of £100 million were being put over his head.
The Irishman even scored six goals in 19 Premier League matches as a teen to showcase what he is all about, but it has all gone backwards since.
| Club | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Brighton | 80 | 17 | 6 |
| West Ham | 8 | – | – |
| Bohemians | 4 | – | – |
| Bohemians | 2 | – | – |
Injuries haven’t helped Ferguson’s cause, and it has disrupted his progression, as he failed to score on loan at West Ham United during the second half of last season.
The key thing above all is that Ferguson is still very young, and it’s a risk worth taking if Celtic were to sign him this summer.
