Celtic want and need to reshape their attacking line this summer.
But one man returning from his loan spell this summer and searching for another chance at Celtic is striker Johnny Kenny.
Kenny was loaned to Bolton last season during the second half of the campaign, helping Steven Schumacher’s side earn promotion to the English Championship.

Perhaps some in Celtic colours would have thought that Bolton’s promotion would have increased Kenny’s chances of being signed up permanently by The Whites.
However, their current transfer window might flip that script, putting Kenny in an interesting position heading into the new 2026/27 Premiership campaign.

Does Johnny Kenny have a long-term future at Celtic?
Bolton have ‘one of the Championship’s lowest budgets’ after loaning Johnny Kenny
If Celtic were to sell Kenny, they wouldn’t let him go for cheap, and you would suspect it would be in the millions.
Last summer, when Bolton wanted to sign the Irishman, the champions of Scotland had put a ‘£1 million’ price tag on their player’s head.
It could be argued that it’s either the same or has increased.
But according to Bolton News, the English side will have to ‘get creative’ with transfers this summer because of what Schumacher has to work with.
Even though strikers and wingers are the ‘priority’ for Bolton, they will have to do it under the guise of operating ‘one of the Championship’s lowest playing budgets next season.’

A full season under Martin O’Neill for Kenny?
Let’s be honest, with signs that Kelechi Iheanacho won’t return, and many expecting Daizen Maeda to leave, it leaves Celtic even thinner in the forward areas.
And even with those two in the building, the Hoops had issues in the attacking areas.
Therefore, if the Celtic Park faithful were told that Kenny is the one leading the line next season, it wouldn’t go down well, even with Martin O’Neill in the dugout.
However, if the club can still sign a few senior goalscorers, then keeping Kenny on board as a squad player, and with a full season under O’Neill, wouldn’t be a bad idea.
