Lennon Miller’s links to Celtic seem to have been going on for an age.

The young Motherwell midfielder is widely expected to move on this summer with Celtic long-term admirers of Miller.

The 18-year-old midfielder has wowed Celtic’s scouts for well over a year now and it seems Miller is now on his way out of Motherwell.

Brendan Rodgers wanted Miller at Celtic in January but a move never materialised and now, with Serie A clubs involved, the Parkhead club now learn Motherwell’s current asking price.

Motherwell want £5.18m as Serie A clubs scrap it out for Celtic target

Reports in Italy now say that as well as Bologna, Udinese now want the Celtic-linked Miller.

Gazzetta.it reports that Udinese and Bologna are ‘fighting’ over Lennon Miller as Motherwell have now set an asking price of €6m (£5.18m).

The report also suggests that there has ‘been a push’ from Bologna to sign the young Scotland midfielder over the last couple of days.

£5m is well within Celtic’s price range but it appears that the young Scotland midfielder is intent on heading abroad.

What Lennon Miller’s dad said when asked if his son could join Celtic

Lee Miller has been quite vocal about his son’s Motherwell future when it became clear he was attracting the attention of Celtic and a number of other clubs last year.

When asked if Miller could join Celtic earlier this month, Lee said, “Of course, Lennon has been great for Motherwell, and Motherwell has been great for Lennon.

“It has been a really good fit, and it has been carefully thought of beforehand. There has always been clubs in for him since he was 14 – whether it was down south or up here – but there has always been a path at Motherwell, and it has been carefully thought out.

“Some people would say ‘why didn’t you go to X,Y and Z club for this money?’ – but he has played, he is the youngest appearance holder for Motherwell and the youngest goal scorer – which is a testament to him.

“There is a lot that has happened in his life but he goes on the football pitch, plays his game and enjoys playing football.”

Most Celtic fans are resigned to the fact that Miller is unlikely to make the Parkhead switch but it will be interesting to see how much he actually goes for before the transfer window closes this summer.
