Celtic made deadline day enquiry to sign Patson Daka
67 Hail Hail have been told by chief transfer expert Graeme Bailey that Celtic were one of the clubs who made an enquiry for Leicester City forward Patson Daka.
Leicester were holding out for in the region of £10m for Daka, but nobody came close to their valuation.
Although it was unclear if Celtic did table an offer, an enquiry was made for the 26-year-old Zambia international, however, wages proved to be a stumbling block, with Capology claiming he earns £75,000-a-week.
Brendan Rodgers thought Patson Daka could replace Jamie Vardy
Rodgers was the manager of Leicester at the time he came to the Premier League and believed that he had all of the attributes to replace Jamie Vardy.
After joining in 2021, the then Foxes manager said, via The Guardian: “He is very similar to Jamie in his traits. He wants to run off the backline, he’s a great finisher and all of those players – Patson, Jamie and Kels – we’re going to need all of them.”
Vardy, who was another target for Celtic, managed to keep his place in the side for years to come and consigned Daka to a place on the bench.
