Celtic have responded to late transfer interest in Honduras international Luis Palma ahead of the deadline tomorrow evening.

The 24-year-old put up some impressive numbers during his debut season at the club, registering ten goals and ten assists.

Nevertheless, he hasn’t always been a first choice under Brendan Rodgers, leaving him with a point to prove in his second campaign at Celtic Park that started off the back of an injury concern.

Palma featured off the bench against Kilmarnock on the opening day and against Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup. Still, she may have a fight on his hands for the left-sided slot amid competition from James Forrest and Daizen Maeda.

Now, Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has outlined how Celtic have responded to late interest in his services from clubs in Germany and France.

Taking to social media platform X, Joseph has confirmed Celtic have rejected approaches from clubs in the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 for the winger ahead of the deadline.

He stated: “Celtic have knocked back approaches from clubs in the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 for winger Luis Palma. It’s understood the Hoops are not looking to sell the Honduras international in this window. Palma, 24, joined Celtic last summer from Aris.”

With Palma not for sale this window, it is clear that Rodgers isn’t keen on losing any more of his creative threats following Matt O’Riley’s departure.

There have been late claims that Celtic could target a winger in the latter stages of market activity. Nonetheless, Lazio quickly rebuffed their approach for Gustaf Isaksen earlier this week.

Given the limited time available to source a replacement, it wouldn’t make sense for the Bhoys to part ways with Palma. Mikey Johnston is set to leave for West Bromwich Albion, leaving them another man down.

Other positions have become a larger priority than the wide areas, meaning the search for reinforcements on the flanks could be revised in January. It is hard to tell at this point, but that feels like the most plausible scenario.
