Celtic set for busy end to transfer window as final stage begins

Celtic are preparing for a busy end to the transfer window, with the departure of Christopher Jullien ushering in the final stage of a long summer.

Ange Postecoglou and the club’s recruitment team took the opportunity to do some key business early in the window, meaning there have been large gaps of inactivity on the transfer front throughout these months.

However, Jullien’s exit is a signifier it’s about to ramp up again, along with Sead Haksabanovic’s reportedly imminent signature at the club.

These two deals are unlikely to be the only moves around Celtic this week, especially after Ange Postecoglou predicted a ‘hectic’ end to the window in interviews last week.

Albian Ajeti is said to be attracting interest from abroad while Mikey Johnston continues to consider his options with multiple teams chasing his services. [Football Scotland]

If both move following Jullien’s exit, it frees up space for Celtic to potentially bring in one or two, even beyond the Haksabanovic deal.

In recent days the Bhoys have been linked with midfielders, although a report from The Daily Record indicated we were still looking at strikers too.

Postecoglou has insisted the club will not be standing still heading deeper into the season and that if the right players come along, Celtic will move for them.

With more opportunities likely passing through Celtic’s contacts, as teams in other leagues also put the finishing touches to their season’s squad, I wouldn’t bet against a couple of surprises springing up for the Bhoys.

I’m not saying we’re about to spend massive amounts of money, but the club are in a fantastic position, with Champions League football coming very shortly.

Don’t rule anything out in that context.
