Celtic have certainly been busy this summer, but perhaps not brought in the level of players fans would have wanted.
It’s well-documented how Celtic go about their business, and yes, those much-craved proven stars aren’t targeted, but potential diamonds are brought in instead.
With the 2025 summer transfer window nearly six weeks into action, a total of seven players have been signed by the champions of Scotland.
One of them includes versatile attacker Benjamin Nygren, who joined from FC Nordsjælland for £2 million, and he has come in to bolster the forward line.

Benjamin Nygren at Celtic
Nygren has started well in pre-season, and he has been getting plaudits left, right and centre for his promising performances.
Charlie Mulgrew is already loving the signing, and he told Go Radio how he is ‘looking forward’ to watching Nygren in action when the season kicks off next month.
The former Celtic defender noted that the Sweden international scored 16 goals and supplied four assists last term, and is entering the ‘real prime’ of his career.
“I am looking forward to seeing Nygren as well,” stated Mulgrew. “I think he is going to be a good player.
“His goal contributions were good last year, and it looks like somebody who is coming into the real prime of his career.
“So, it will be interesting to see how he does. But I definitely think there needs to be more signings made.”
Celtic’s pre-season win over Newcastle United played down
Celtic thrashed Newcastle United over the weekend, with Nygren coming off the bench alongside the returning Kieran Tierney.
It was a dismissive performance from the Hoops, but Mulgrew has played it down.
That was Celtic’s fifth pre-season match of the summer, and they have been back training for nearly a month now, but Eddie Howe’s side had just returned from their summer holidays.
“Brilliant result (against Newcastle), but I genuinely don’t think you can look into pre-season friendlies,” said Mulgrew.
“We have had a good set of results in pre-season friendlies. We have had a lot of battering in pre-season friendlies against lesser opposition. I think everybody is at different stages of their journey.
“Newcastle just back for a week or ten days. Celtic have been back for three or four weeks.
“On paper, it’s a good result against Newcastle. You are delighted with it. You take it. But I think there are bigger things they will be looking at. The manager and the players will understand that.”
