An unnamed MLS club has reportedly opened talks with Egyptian midfielder Mohamed ‘Afsha’ Magdy amidst his recent links to Celtic.
The 26-year-old is slowly starting to become a familiar name to supporters, having been linked with the Hoops on several occasions.
Under both Neil Lennon and current boss Ange Postecoglou, the player’s agent has indicated that the Bhoys have looked to make a move for the 20-time capped international.

Around two weeks ago, Celtic’s links to Afsha resurfaced, with a report from his homeland stating Postecoglou’s men were once again interested in the player.
The midfielder’s agent then appeared to confirm that interest to the Scottish media but insisted his client would take his time before making a decision.
Since his agents comment on the matter, the story appears to have gone cold, with other clubs from across the globe being linked with a move for Afsha.
One Saudi Arabian side, in particular, was heavily linked after the Egyptian handed in a transfer request at Al-Ahly amidst a loan bid from Al-Batin.
However, the race for Afsha appears to still be on. But, if Celtic’s interest in the midfielder is true, it is looking more unlikely a move to Parkhead will be on the horizon.
According to a report from Football Scotland, an unnamed MLS side has opened talks with Afsha and offered him terms, with the player thought to be interested in the proposition.

Although the report mentions Celtic aren’t out of the race, no concrete offer has been placed for the Egyptian international at this time.
In the past, the Bhoys have arguably been used as a bargaining chip, with the club’s supposed interest being used in Afsha’s negotiations for a new contract.
It is unclear at this stage if that is the case. But, in my personal opinion, I am not sure Celtic’s interest was as big as has been made out by the player’s representatives.
Of course, a lot can change in football, particularly the January transfer market, and we would all welcome the signing of the midfielder.
However, it is starting to look like Celtic won’t be moving any further on their supposed interest, with an unnamed MLS side taking advantage in the hopes of signing Afsha.
