Celtic are still searching for some more firepower and attacking quality from the January transfer window.
After more upheaval this month at Celtic, including Martin O’Neill replacing Wilfried Nancy in the dugout, the club have finally signed that much-needed striker.
Celtic have signed Tomas Cvancara on a loan deal until the end of the season, and now Darren O’Dea has backed the Hoops to add quality to their right flank.
When O’Dea was at Swansea City, he tracked and tried to sign Crystal Palace’s highly-rated winger, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
How much of a priority is a right-winger for Celtic in January?

Celtic told to go and sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi
Rak-Sakyi has now been linked to Celtic, and O’Dea thinks there is a ‘very talented’ player in there, who is ‘brilliant one-v-one.’
Amid the noise that Rak-Sakyi, who is on-loan in Turkey at Çaykur Rizespor, could head to Glasgow, O’Dea backed the transfer on Go Radio.
Paul Cooney: “There is news that Celtic are interested in Rak-Sakyi, the Crystal Palace player, who is over in Turkey. I know you know of him. There was interest when you were there.”
O’Dea: “When I was at Swansea, we tried to sign him in the summer, and he is a very talented player. Winger. Brilliant one-v-one.”
Cooney: “Rak-Sakyi, what do you feel? Having watched him, what would he bring to Celtic? They need a wide player.”
O’Dea: “As a player, 100%, I would take him. But then, when you go through the recruitment, especially in January, you need him to come in and play immediately. Hit the ground running. Reality tells you that he hasn’t been playing much football.
“That means, the more talented player you get, and if they are playing week in and week out, they don’t become available.
“So, there is a level of risk that needs to be taken. He has obviously gone to Turkey and not played much football.”

Rak-Sakyi’s numbers this season
These last few months have been chaotic and problematic for Celtic.
But whilst the champions of Scotland have declined in huge ways, including having three different men in the dugout this season.
You could argue that Hyunjun Yang has improved in huge ways and been a positive influence on that right flank for Celtic.
But that doesn’t mean Celtic don’t need to add more quality to that area of the pitch, and that’s where Rak-Sakyi comes into the picture.
- Games for Çaykur Rizespor: 13
