Celtic’s pursuit of Go Ahead Eagles’ winger Jakob Breum is starting to turn into a saga.

With the Hoops closing in on Michel-Ange Balikwisha, Celtic are said to be also nearing a deal to bring Jakob Breum to the club.

The talented winger was said to be in fresh talks with Celtic this week (21st) but it seems that may not actually be the case.

Sun journalist David Friel has given an update on what he knows about Celtic’s pursuit of Breum and the deal may not be as far along as fans might have hoped.

Celtic told Jakob Breum fee is ‘not going to change’

Friel was asked about the latest rumours surrounding Breum and Celtic as the journalist shared what Go Ahead Eagles have reiterated to the Parkhead club.

Friel told The Scottish SunSport podcast, “There was a report that Celtic were ramping it up. As far as I’m led to believe Go Ahead Eagles have told Celtic, if you want him, if you want to come back in for him, this is his fee, it’s not going to change.

“As far as I’m aware, there hasn’t been much in the way of kind of fresh contact certainly as we speak there hadn’t been on Thursday.

“However, he’s clearly a player Celtic have liked. They’ve not gone to the levels [of the offer]. But it is interesting in terms of there’s been a lot of players that Celtic have had a look at, made inquiries and the players can’t just be pigeonholed as he’s a right winger or he’s a left winger.

“It’s guys that can maybe play different positions. And I do think Brendan Rodgers likes that.”

How many days Celtic have left of the transfer window

Celtic are clearly ramping up their transfer business as Rodgers looks to strengthen his side this week.

The Celtic boss said he’s waiting until after the Kairat Almaty tie before he worries about Celtic’s transfer business.

If that’s the case then Rodgers will have just six days to get any transfer over the line before the 1st of September deadline.
