One-time Celtic star could make controversial transfer move by signing for David Moyes

It seems as though a few managers with Celtic connections have been disrespected of late.

Ange Postecoglou’s recent sacking at Tottenham is proof of that, and David Moyes’ departure from West Ham United in 2024, as he is now working his magic again at Everton.

The former Celtic player returned to Everton in January following Sean Dyche’s exit and guided them to eight wins from 20 matches, including seven draws, and only five defeats – all whilst West Ham, where Moyes won the Europa Conference League, struggled after his exit.

This was without being able to bring in his own players, but he will get his chance this summer as the Toffees also move into their new stadium under new ownership.

One name doing the rounds in the transfer rumour mill has Celtic connections, and if the deal were to happen, then it would have some controversy sprinkled onto it.

Ex-Celtic player Ben Doak linked with transfer from Everton to Liverpool

The Merseyside derby is one of the richest and famous derby games across the world, and a prominent fixture of the English football calendar.

But could former Celtic player Ben Doak make a move from Anfield to Goodison Park this summer?

TeamTalk have suggested that Moyes is a ‘huge admirer’ of the all-action winger, and Everton are ‘considering a move’ for the player.

How has Doak fared since his Celtic exit?

After making a few appearances under Ange Postecoglou, Doak opted for the brave call to leave his comfort zone in Glasgow and join Liverpool.

The issue with the Scotland international is the fact that he has little chance of game time because a certain Mohamed Salah is ahead of him in the pecking order.

That’s why Doak was loaned out to Championship side Middlesbrough during the recently concluded season, and he has only made ten appearances for the Reds since his move.

He has actually played more games for Liverpool’s younger age groups than the senior side, but the 19-year-old still has a long way to go.
