Brendan Rodgers must strengthen his Celtic squad before the January transfer window slams shut.
Many might consider Celtic’s strong position in the Premiership as a reason not to rush any deals, but boosting your squad when you are on top is the best time to do it.
Yes, Celtic are winning the title at the end of the season, added to the fact that they have already won the League Cup, but they also have Champions League matters to deal with.
Two more games remain in this Champions League group phase, before knockout football is expected to return to Parkhead.
Given how the Bhoys have performed post-New Year, then many need to get their act together, or else, they will be seriously punished in Europe’s elite competition.
One man who can help solve that is someone who has been long discussed by those in Celtic colours, well before the January transfer window was open, and Frank McAvennie is certainly looking forward to the deal happening.
Frank McAvennie says Brendan Rodgers knows Kieran Tierney will join Celtic
Kieran Tierney is on every Celtic fan’s mind and it seems as though he will be donning his boyhood colours sooner rather than later.
McAvennie labelled the Arsenal left-back as ‘world-class’ and stated that Rodgers knows that he is entering the building, as he told PLZ Soccer.
Greg Taylor is Celtic’s starting left-back, but McAvennie was pretty blunt in stating that he will need to take a back seat because Tierney is the better player.

“Brendan is a top manager and a top guy,” said McAvennie. “I wouldn’t have it any other way, so he will know what to do and he will know who is coming in and who is going out. He will know by now.
“But, if they can get Tierney, I couldn’t give a monkey’s who is playing and I know it’s Greg (Taylor) and fair play to Greg. He has done brilliantly for us, but if Tierney comes in, he is walking in. He is world-class.
“That’s not a slight on Greg. It’s nothing on Greg because it’s just the way of football. If somebody comes in better than you, then they are getting a game. But Greg would have to stay. He would get plenty of games because there are 60-odd games. Greg plays 25 and Kieran plays 35. That’s the way football goes, at the moment.”
Latest on Tierney joining Celtic from Arsenal
As of this moment, Rodgers has two left-backs to pick from – Taylor, who has started the majority of matches this season and on-loan Barcelona star, Alex Valle.
But Cesc Fabregas could have an interesting part to play in Tierney joining from Celtic this month because the FC Como manager – the newly-promoted Serie A side – wants to sign Valle.
This news broke from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday – and if that deal happens – then it opens the door for Tierney to join Celtic.
