Many knew that Celtic would bring in a striker during the summer transfer window.

Following Kyogo Furuhashi’s exit in January, it left Celtic light up top, although the team didn’t show it because Daizen Maeda went goal crazy as the centre forward.

But there is now talk that Celtic will sign youngster Callum Osmand from Fulham, as the teenager gives every fan the Moussa Dembele vibes.

This is the same path Dembele took in 2016, and the rest is history with the Al-Ettifaq hitman, who became an Invincible in Glasgow.

Added to that, Matt O’Riley also came through at Fulham, and he was equally as dominant as Dembele in Celtic colours.

So, what will this new kid, Osmand, bring if the deal goes through?

What people at Fulham have been saying about Celtic’s next possible signing, Callum Osmand

With the rumours going around that Celtic are going to sign Osmand from Fulham, Frank McAvennie has shared that he got a call from someone close to the situation.

Tony Gale spent nearly a decade at Craven Cottage, making over 200 appearances, and he has told McAvennie that Celtic have got a ‘right good boy’ with this possible capture, as he told his Let Me Be Frank Podcast.

McAvennie is in no doubt that, if Osmand gets going and starts finding the back of the net, then ‘he will take that number nine spot’.

“I got a call from one of our guests, Tony Gale,” shared McAvennie. “He played at Fulham for years. He’s still very well (connected) down there. They love him.

“He phoned me, and said to me, ‘you have got a right good boy’. It doesn’t matter who you are or how old you are.

“See if he goes in and scores goals, then he will take that number nine spot.

“That’s not a bad return (on Osmand’s goalscoring record at youth level). That’s one in two. It doesn’t matter who you play. If you are getting goals like that, and racking up goals like that. That’s a result.”

Osmand is a possible ‘£20 million’ player with Brendan Rodgers’ coaching

This is where Celtic’s transfer recruitment team earns its money, because they get quite a lot of these types of deals right.

Bring an unknown player in for next to nothing, provide them the platform to thrive, and then sell them on for a big transfer fee.

McAvennie has already stated that Celtic could get ‘another £20 million’ for Osmand if he meets expectations under Rodgers.

“Hopefully, with the kind of coach Brendan Rodgers is, he will bring him through,” added McAvennie. “That’s a bargain. What’s the fee? You bring him in. That’s £400k or something, isn’t it?

“You get a boy like that for £400k, and given the coaching Brendan will give him, and his coaching staff. John Kennedy and all of them. Then that could be another £20 million for a goalscorer.

“If he hits the ground and scores goals, then there aren’t many goal scorers going about now, it’s a dying art.”
